Privacy Notice

How this website handles contact messages, technical information and analytics.

Updated 9 September 2026. This notice describes the website features currently in use at The Wrist Guide. Use the contact form to contact the site’s administrators about this notice or the handling of your personal information.

Contact messages

If you use the contact form, we receive your name, email address and message so we can assess and respond to your enquiry, investigate a correction and deal with any follow-up. Messages are stored in a private WordPress inbox accessible to site administrators; they are not published as comments. An optional notification to the site’s administrator includes a link to the private inbox, but does not include your name, email address or message text. Contacting us does not subscribe you to a mailing list.

For handling enquiries and preventing misuse of the contact service, we rely on our legitimate interests in responding to readers, maintaining accurate editorial information and protecting the website. This basis requires those interests to be balanced against your rights and interests. You can object to this use of your information as explained below.

To limit repeated submissions, the form temporarily stores a salted, one-way token derived from the submitted email address and the connection address. The rate-limit entry expires after 30 minutes. The token does not contain the raw email or connection address in readable form; this does not make your contact message anonymous.

Technical information and analytics

The hosting and delivery systems can process connection information such as IP address, requested URL, browser information and request time to serve and protect the website. The site also uses Umami and WP Statistics to understand page visits and site use. These technical records are separate from the contact inbox.

Cookies and third-party destinations

WordPress may use cookies for authenticated administration and site functions. Links to manufacturers, retailers and other websites lead to services with their own privacy practices. Following a link may disclose ordinary connection information to that destination. We do not ask you to provide payment details on this site.

Some retailer links use Sovrn Commerce referral tracking. When you follow a link labelled as an affiliate link, your browser connects to Sovrn and the retailer so the referral and any qualifying purchase can be attributed. These services may process connection information, such as an IP address and browser details, and use cookies or similar tracking under their own privacy policies. Read Sovrn’s privacy policy and the destination retailer’s privacy notice for more information.

Amazon links use our Amazon Associates referral identifier. If you follow one, your browser opens Amazon UK so that Amazon can attribute a referral and any qualifying purchase to this site. Amazon may collect browser or device information and use cookies or similar technologies when you use its services. Read Amazon’s Privacy Notice for information about its handling of personal data and the choices it provides.

Access and retention

Contact messages remain in the private inbox until a site administrator deletes them. Retention and deletion are managed manually; there is currently no automatic deletion timetable for the inbox. The need to handle an enquiry, investigate a correction or retain relevant follow-up information guides retention decisions. You can ask for a message to be deleted through the contact form.

Inbox access is restricted to administrators. Hosting and operational service providers may process information needed to run the site, including storing the website’s data or delivering an administrator notification. The inbox notification does not send the content of your enquiry to the email provider.

Your rights and concerns

Under UK data protection law, you may have rights to obtain a copy of your personal information, correct inaccurate information, request deletion or restrict its use. You can also object to processing based on legitimate interests. These rights depend on the circumstances and are not absolute. The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) explains your data protection rights.

Use the contact form to make a request or raise a privacy concern. Include enough context to locate the information, without sending additional sensitive information. We may need limited further details to verify that a request concerns your own information.

You can also raise a complaint with the ICO, the UK’s data protection regulator. The ICO generally recommends giving the organisation an opportunity to address your concern first. This notice will be updated when the site’s data-handling features change.
